New

January 1. For me, a brand-new year offers renewed hope, countless possibilities, and amazing opportunities. I anticipate this is the year the Lord will answer long-awaited prayers, fulfill heart-felt desires and birth new dreams.

At the same time, a new year (actually each new day) holds the unknown. Yet, I need not fear or doubt what is to come, for the unknown is keenly known by the Great I AM. As written in His Word, I am confident and assured He holds my yesterdays, today, and tomorrows (Psalm 139:16). All things are possible and nothing is impossible with God (Matthew 19:26; Luke 1:37). He will make a way where there seems to be no way (Isaiah 43:16). He will direct my steps (Proverbs 3:6).

While the Lord’s ways are faithful and just (1 John 1:9) and His mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23), I want more than to just read His words…I want to be an effectual doer of His word (James 1:22-25). I want to do what He requires of me: to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with my God (Micah 6:8).

I know this new year will bring trying and difficult days; yet I also know there will be days of glorious victory and Divine revelation. While I am certain the Lord has a good plan for me, for each of us, (Jeremiah 29:11), my desire is to seek Him with all of my heart (Jeremiah 29:13). And when I do, I am certain my fresh, sparkly new year will be filled with abundant love, exceeding joy, and steadfast peace.

Behold, I will do something new, now it will spring forth; will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, rivers in the desert. ~Isaiah 43:19
